Ayurveda is the oldest medical system in the world. It is a holistic system of healing and maintaining of health . The basic principles of Ayurveda deal with the natural way of living a healthy life. According to Ayurveda, every living being in the universe is a combination of five basic elements called Pancha Mahabhuta. These five elements are Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

These Panchamahabhuta combine in various ways to form three different energy levels known as Tridoshas. They are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These Tridoshas determine the constitution of a person as well as the process of growth and decay of the body. When doshas are healthy and balanced it is called as good health. Imbalance causes disease. Ayurveda explains different foods, tastes, activities, seasons etc that affect the doshas in different ways.
